important manufacturer recommended maintenance

Save $280 a year by doing simple maintenance on your appliances!

Manufacturers recommend cleaning your condensor every 3-12 months.  Having a clean and properly operating condensor prevents wasted electricity and increases the life of your appliance.

Save 30 – 40%

Each year we remind you that your refrigerator needs some attention to make it through the summer!

Sub-Zero recommends vacuuming your condensor every 3-6 months while other manufacturers recommend every 6 months or once a year.  A dirty condensor may cause your fridge to run warm, waste electricity and significantly reduce the life of your appliance.

The refrigerator and freezer runs 24/7  and during the summer, they have to work harder.  Our summer special ensures that these appliances will continue to run efficiently during the summer months and the rest of the year.

The Condenser & What it Does

Condenser coils help your refrigerator dissipate heat, keeping it running with cool efficiency for years without interruption. For a fridge to run at its peak, the coils must remain clean and unobstructed by dirt, hair, or other material that will prevent heat dispersion. Otherwise, your fridge or freezer will work harder to keep itself cool, wearing engine motor components down until they break.

Energy Savings + Health Benefits

  1. Save money when you save energy!  Condenser cleanings can save you more than $200 a year according to a Reliant Energy study.  A Stanford study found that 8-12% of home energy usage could be cut with efficient appliance operation.
  2. Remove 70% of harmful allergens and bacteria!  The CDC reported that 70% of dust mites are collected in the kitchen from the refrigerator fan.
  3. Extend the life of your appliance!  EnergyStar states that the manufacturer’s use and care manual warns that the failure to maintain and clean the condensers will result in premature failure of the appliance and could void your manufacturer warranty.

Signs You Need a Professional Cleaning

There are a number of signs that it may be time to get professional condenser cleaning service, which may include but are not limited to:

  • loud noises
  • smells coming from outside the unit
  • unit is warm to the touch
  • the internal thermostat is reaching the correct temperature
  • does not work (or cool) any longer
  • ice build up inside or outside the unit

Tips for Condenser Cleaning

It’s possible to reduce the risk of dirty condenser coil problems with simple, regular maintenance. Just follow these easy tips:

  1. Lightly brush large debris and hair from the coils on a regular basis.  There should be enough space between the coils and the nearest surface to allow air flow
  2. Verify that the coils are properly attached to the appliance and are not damaged

However, after some time, filth can cake and harden onto coils so it may be necessary to get professional condenser coil cleaning, especially if your fridge or freezer is already having issues. AAA Appliance Service Center is happy to handle your condenser coil cleaning needs.
